ボムガール (BomuGaru)

ボムガール (BomuGaru) App for iPhone
I know what you're thinking.  What on Earth is Bomugaru?... Well, it's exactly what it sounds like.  It means "Bomb Girl".  Think competitive minesweeper.  And as someone who absolutely loves Minesweeper, I decided to give this game a go.  Despite the fact it's entirely in Japanese (I try to avoid that.  Sometimes it's tough).
So how does competitive Minesweeper work?  I'll admit, it was a bit confusing at first.  But you wont have to worry about that.  I'm going to explain it to you.  You can't mark the bombs like in Minesweeper.  Rather, the goal is to find the most bombs.  So you actually 'want' to click the bombs.  Find more than your opponent and you win!  Pass to the next level.
Upon opening the app you'll find several options on the title screen.  These options are Story Mode, Time Play, Gallery, Options and Info.
Story allows you to choose your Bomb Girl opponent.  In the free version you will only be able to choose the first girl.  You have the option to choose one of the other two females upon payment of the game.
You will see a lot of dialog (All in Japanese).  You can speed past it by clicking the lower right hand button.  Personally, I didn't read it.  There was 'way' too much dialog.
You begin level one with a large screen of boxes.  Select one.  If you find a number, your turn is over.  It is then the computer's turn.  If you find a bomb, you can click again.  The number indicates how many bombs surround that block.  If there is a one, one bomb is around that block.  If there is a 6, then six bombs are surrounding the block.  The user with the most bombs found wins the game.  When you win, you continue on to level two. And more dialog... However, when you beat level 2 it's game over for the free version.  The last stage is only available with a purchase from the app store.  I am under the impression that this game has adult content on the paid version.  However, the free version does not.  So don't worry about seeing some cartoon knicker shot when you least expect it.  Though if that is what you would like, I would suggest buying the full version.
The time play runs a clock to see how well you can play the Minesweeper game.  You are not running against the computer, but rather solo playing.  The down side is that you can not mark the bombs.  If you find a bomb... It's game over.  How long can you survive?
The gallery mode is a bit unappealing in the free version.  You essentially have one image.  Each character has 2 images.  Their dialog image and their "End Game" image for when you complete all of their levels.  However, with only one character available and no allowance to complete the last level (Or even to play it) you'll only have one image of one character without paying for the game.  They really want you to buy this thing, don't they?

Should you decide to purchase this game you can do so through the story mode.  If you click her third stage and the red purchase button then you'll be asked to confirm your 1.99 purchase via the app store.  I did not choose to buy this app, and only have the free version.  I just wasn't impressed enough to pay 2 dollars for the full version.  Besides, I'd like this application a lot more if it wasn't about collecting images of "Sexy cartoon girls".
In closing I think it's a fun twist on the classic game.  I think it 'is' fun.  But the free version is incredibly limited to the point of being frustrating at times.  The theme of the app isn't really my style, which lowers my rating a bit.  If you're into that sort of thing, you might like this app more than me.  Fair warning, the full version does warn for nudity.  So don't let any young people download the full version.  The free version is safe, however.

  4. A century is a 100 years. The best of a Best Century Painting can be said to be the most representative of a given era. A century has seen the rise and fall of great artists just as it has seen the rise and fall of great empires.
