As I've said before, I have a soft spot for games that add little comic book panels to tell the story. This is one of those games.
You play an office worker. It's been a hard day at work, it's time to go home to your family! Hooray!... but wait... It's raining. You find yourself without an umbrella... You have to make it home without getting drenched. And for some reason you'd rather hoof it than take the bus. You can take the subway underground route now and then but it's very short... Just down one staircase and up the other. Apparently he isn't just without his umbrella. He must have lost his transit card as well.
I find this to be a fun, yet a bit challenging (At least for me) game. You have to dodge the raindrops as they fall around you. hiding under anything you can find. Now and then you find forgotten umbrellas and can use them to walk a bit, but they have health bars and once they get too wet they disappear... Who made these umbrellas!? Useless... You can also wear a giant bear costume head, which I find silly and fun. However, it too can only survive so many rain drops. If you get too wet, it's game over. this must be some serious acidic rain.
The game play is simple. Forward, backward and jump are the available actions. If you run over an item, you use it automatically. A fun side quest is to find lost pets and return them to their owners. It isn't something you have to do, but if you're looking for a bigger challenge, this would be that. There are multiple levels to run through. Apparently this fellow lives quite far from his work place.
There is a score board. You can compete against your friends or yourself. Can you make it to the end of the game? I wont lie, I have not yet made it to the end of the game. I'm not very good at dodging those rain drops. Nonetheless, I find it to be really fun. And a great time consumer for waiting rooms. One level only takes a couple minutes to get through.
The artwork is really fun, and I appreciate the attention to detail they put into this. You can pass animals, bus stops (With people), trees, buildings, shoppes, fences, etc. My favouite art in this are still the comic pages though. This poor guy is really unhappy with his situation. Who would have thought watching a businessman run home through the rain would be so entertaining?
You receive a score at the end of each level (Each level is replayable). You will be scored on how many objects you found. The items you used to assist you in your dryness. How far you got, and naturally whether or not you got to the end of said level.
Some of the things you can do to keep dry, for those who want to start playing this are as follows: Standing under the bus stop, finding an umbrella, standing at the hot dog stand, wearing a bear head, the phone booth, subway undergrounds, and any shoppe with a roof area.
I would recommend this game. I really enjoy it. It's cute, fun and the concept is nice and simple. no need to complicate things. Available on both Apple products and Android. And above all? It's free. Though there is an in game purchase option. I believe it allows you to obtain more items to help you through the game. I've not played with that feature.
