Have you ever wished you could find people with similar movie/book/television program interests? Want to discuss a show, while you're watching it? Want to share the music you are listening to with all of your friends? Well, you can...Get Glue is a social networking site that revolves around media. Books, celebrities, music, television, films, and even topics of discussion like Politics and gardening. Share what you're doing and thinking about and chat with other people who are currently watching, listening to or thinking about the same thing!
Of course it wouldn't be a proper networking site without those crazy badges, right? Well it has those too. Watching your favourite show on television? Check in and you could get a special limited time sticker added to your profile for watching that episode as it airs. "Great, every site has badges nowadays... What's so special about these ones?" Is that what you're thinking? This site has a unique take on the badges. Once you've earned 20 or more "stickers" from check ins, you can have them send you actual physical versions of those stickers for free! Can't argue with that, now, can you?
You can like, dislike and save any item. It will even suggest new content, based on the ratings you have given. You can review things you've red or watched. You can chat live with other users who are doing the same thing. make friends or share with your already existing friends.
You have your own stream where you can view what you've been up to, as well as what people you follow have been doing. You can comment on what they've done and have a discussion right there on your stream.
You can also sign up on, or access your pre-existing account from the website (GetGlue.com). There you have a bit more control than there is currently available via the app. It also makes it easier to browse topics and make suggestions for new content.You can share anything you do on Get Glue with friends on Facebook or Twitter. As you can sync these networking sites together.
I think this is a very cute app. The thing I find most interesting, personally... is the fact that you can chat with other people while watching a show on television. It makes it a more fun experience. I would suggest giving this application a try if you are really into social networking or interacting with people who have similar media genre interests. You may just find someone checking into all of the same things you do. A friend you never would have met, otherwise. And this app is available in both iPhone and Android phones (As well as other phones).
If I were to make any improvement on this app, I would find a way to sync it with Shazam, or at least make it have the same capability. A way for it to listen to what you have playing and figure out what it is, so it can check you in automatically. Also, a reminder function would be nice. if you check into the same show every time it comes on, it should be able to remind you your show is about to start, so you don't forget. these features would make this application so much better, in my opinion.
