Evi is a cheaper option for a Siri like app for people using older iPhones or iPod touches, who would rather not buy w whole new phone just to use her.
You can ask the application questions via the microphone, or type them in. Evi will try to find a good answer to reply with. You can rate Evi's answers with an up or down thumb to help her learn how to respond in the future.
Evi is 'not' as useful as Siri, however. Evi almost wasn't allowed in the app store, because it was too much like Siri. Apple didn't want people to "get confused". Because of this, the makers of Evi have to be careful what features they add to this application. It can't access the apps the way Siri can. However, it does still have some nice features that have been recently added. Along with ones that Evi has had since the beginning.
Evi can find shoppes and restaurants near you. convert measurements & currency, answer trivia and other questions you may have, call or text a contact, or access your email.
This all being said, Evi is far from perfect. Occasionally the servers go down, making Evi a bit useless. Also, Evi sometimes seems to have trouble with simple commands (Evi seems to have a lot of trouble remembering my name). I am sure that as they continue to update this application, these bugs will get worked out.
The ability to understand human speech is very good. Rarely does it give me an incorrect interpretation of what I have spoken. I am very happy about this. You can also choose to have Evi speak back, or simply reply with text.
I am hoping that in the future True Knowledge (The app creators) will add some more interactive features such as the ability to play your music for you, or watch videos you have added to your phone. I know that Apple wont allow them to access the apps, but the videos and music aren't apps... So perhaps this could be allowed?
This is a pretty good application, overall. I don't find myself using it terribly often. However, perhaps when they do more tweeking it will become part of my every day routine. If you want or need something that can speed up your web searches, find something for you locally, convert things without you typing anything, etc... This application would be a wise choice for you. And for only 99 cents, you don't have a lot to lose. Candy bars cost more, nowadays.
