Tiny Tower

Tiny Tower App for iPhone
As simple as the premise is, this is actually a pretty addictive application, I must say.  I downloaded this the week I got my iPhone (July 2011) and I 'still' play this game really frequently (Every day, or almost every day).
Many of these screen shots are old.  I have around 130 floors at this point.  Along with over 200 people living in my "not so tiny" tower.
So what do you do in this game?  You have a "tiny" tower... It's a building with a lobby.  You have to build new floors to grow your tower.  Of course you need people to work in your tower, so you have residential floors you can add.  Each floor holds 5 tenants.  Each tenant has a 'dream job'.  A particular shoppe they would like to work in.  The goal is to get each resident to work in their ideal occupation.  In order to do this, you must build more floors.  Each floor will have one business (Unless it's a residential floor).
You can choose to build a Retail, Food, Service, Creative or Recreational floor.  You do 'not' get to choose which business will open on this floor.  For example you may choose to build a Food floor, but you don't know if you'll end up with a Diner, a Sky Burger, a Tea House, a Bakery or something else entirely.
Each resident has their own 'stats' for what sort of jobs they are good at.  Ideally you want each person to have a "9" in their dream job's genre so that when they work there, you'll get bonus goods.  When the person working in your store has a 9 in that genre, you get bonus inventory, when you stock items.  If you have 3 people (3 people per business) that are all 9s in any one business, you'll get the best bonus when stocking.
Not interesting enough?  What about customization?  Each floor can be "painted".  Meaning you can choose what each floor looks like.  Don't like the colours in the Record Store?  Change them!  Tired of the furniture in the Doctor's Office?  Switch them out!  You can even change the clothing of each of the tiny people who live in your tower.  You can customize their outfit by scrolling through hats, shirts and bottoms, or choose a premade costume for them.  I enjoy having costumes for people who are working in their ideal jobs.  Each costume corresponding with what that job is.  For instance I have Boxing uniforms for the people who work at the Health Club and Dinosaur costumes for all the workers at the Museum!
Every now and again a delivery or some other person of interest will visit the tower.  they'll need help finding someone who lives in your tower.  They will provide a name and photo.  You then have to find that person and tap the floor they are on.  you'll receive one "Bux".  You can use these to buy more coins or to upgrade your elevator.  Use them to paint floors and buy costumes as well.  Even stocking and building of new floors can be hurried along if you have enough Bux.
VIPs will visit your tower sometimes.  These individuals will help you greatly.  Whether it's the extra construction worker who, when delivered to a floor being built, takes up to 3 hours off the build time, or the Real-state Agent who, when delivered to a residential floor, fills it with tenants for free.  There are many other useful VIPs that may show up as well.
Lastly, there are also achievements you can claim if you connect through the game center.  If you play a lot of games via your iPhone, you probably already have an account.  And who doesn't love collecting badges?
This is a really fun game, but you have to be careful.  Don't let it control your day.  Many people who play this game end up feeling burdened by having to stock a floor every few minutes.  Constantly picking up their phone over and over through out the day.  Don't do this!  Your little pixel people will not die or starve to death if you leave them alone for a few hours.  or even if you ignore them for a few days, or weeks.  When you aren't doing anything else, stock all the floors that need stocking, build a new floor, do what needs to be done.  Then set it down.  Leave it alone until you 'want' to play again.  Remember, it's a game.  It's not your job.
